C.A.R.E. Ltd. designed continuous 50 kg/h R&D Pyrolysis facility for charcoal/biochar has official Launch day at Cornell University

C.A.R.E. Ltd. was contracted in 2009 to design and specify a 50 kg/h continuous flow pyrolysis kiln for Full Circle Biochar - a start-up company based in California, USA for the development and deployment of biochar from biomass. The overall process consisted of a continuous feed system into an electrically heated kiln, with continuous fully automated char removal and cooling and recovery in sealed drums. The raw syngas is burnt in a thermal oxidiser and the combusted gases cooled to 200°C prior to atmospheric discharge.

C.A.R.E. Ltd. provided a detailed design, which was subsequently built in the UK and shipped to the USA in 2012. The unit was then completed in terms of installation and full FM/UL compliance and NFPA compliance. The unit was commissioned in April 2017.

C.A.R.E. Ltd. attended the official Launch Day at Cornell University and give the overall process description and technical features of this highly flexible unit. Over 100 people attended, both national and international with researchers, biochar producers, developers and end-users present. Feedstocks from woodchip to dried digestate have been pyrolysed in the past 14 months of successful operation and biochar samples were freely available to IBI standards.

If we can help you with your pyrolysis system needs from R&D to commercial scale, design, build and supply, don't hesitate to contact us. More news and background to the project at: here.
